The International Sailing Academy will be upgrading its fleet and shifting exclusively to the foiling Lasers.  In an effort to remain the leader in Laser training camps and performance racing, we have decided to upgrade our fleet to reflect the current trends in professional sailing circuits. We believe it’s only a matter of time before the application of the technology trickles down to the masses and become the norm in Laser fleet racing around the globe.

The common Laser sailor can expect a 147% speed gain from their first day of foiling compared to a traditional Laser.

ISA attendees will still be provided with top-notch coaching, pristine boat charters, luxury housing, and gourmet meals, and the foils will be provided on-site for ease of travel. “The shift to foils only makes sense,” says ISA head coach Vaughn Harrison, “we will provide sailors with access to the newest technology so that they can get ahead of the curve. I’m looking forward to people going home and absolutely dominating their local fleets once they show up with the foiling lasers kit.” Positively, Harrison’s coaching job has become much easier now that the pressure is eased. The common Laser sailor can expect a 147% speed gain from their first day of foiling compared to a traditional Laser.

The ISA team has spent most of the winter foiling in Banderas Bay to prepare for this shift and learn the best techniques of what is essentially a new boat.

Starting today, all clinics at ISA will be 100% foiling and attendees will receive a briefing on day 1 of their clinics. Sailors are asked to provide their own helmets and elbow pads.
