What days should I book my flights for?

Our Portugal Clinics run Tuesday through Saturday.
Plan to arrive on Monday or early Tuesday morning to begin your clinic day at 10:00 am. Fly home through the many flight options out of Faro (FAO) or Lisbon (LIS) Airports on Sunday.

What is a typical day like at ISA Portugal?

The daily thermal breeze will allow for a very structured training day.

Morning: Enjoy a walk on one of Portugal’s most stunning beaches, or enjoy a pleasant bike ride around the town and waterfront. Stretch out from the previous days sailing or hit the gym to get warmed up for the days sailing ahead. Have a wonderful breakfast at your residence, or one of the many restaurants in Vilamoura.

10:00 am: Meet us for briefing at the ISA Briefing Room at Vilamoura Sailing. We’ll discuss the sailing program for the day and brief you on the technical details for the daily topics.

11:30 am: Rig your boat and get changed for the epic daily sailing ahead.

Noon – 3:00 pm: On water training

3:15 pm: Derig, get changed and walk to the ISA Briefing Room.

3:45 pm: Enjoy a recovery meal and some refreshing beverages with your fellow sailors and coach. Debrief the daily sailing with video and technical analysis.

5:00 pm: Relax after enjoying a wonderful day of Laser sailing and enjoy the evening in Vilamoura over the setting sun – biking, walking, dining, nightlife and more.

What are the conditions like at Vilamoura, Portugal?

Water Temperatures in November / December range from 16 – 19 degrees celsius. Air temperatures range from 19 – 22 degrees celsius. The prevailing breeze is Northwest at about 8-15 knots with short waves generally. The thermal breeze tends to build starting at approximately 11:00 am. In December, frontal movement from Morocco brings warm air into the mix and  swell that can build up to 2 meters. Incredible sunsets over orange skies travel with these fronts. This is a World Class sailing venue.

Are accommodations included in the ISA Vilamoura Clinic Packages?

No, accommodations are extra. Clinic attendees may book recommended accommodations independently, or search for alternate accommodations which are plentiful and within walking distance of Vilamoura Sailing.

What are the meals like?

We’re providing a post-sailing meal at approximately 5:00 pm, just after sailors arrive back from their day on the water. It will be a local Portuguese meal intended to replenish sailors from a day on the water. You’ll still have room to enjoy a dinner out on the town later in the evening if you wish.

What is the area like?

Vilamoura is a stylish resort town situated in the heart of the beautiful Algarve coastline. Vilamoura is centered around it’s exclusive marina complex which boasts world-class hotels, fine dining and fashionable nightlife. To the south are pristine beaches and five championship golf courses.

Aside from all that there are boat trips, fishing trips, water parks, trips to nearby market towns, marine parks, chic bars, historic centers, museums and more. You’ll have an incredible experience even when you’re not sailing at Vilamoura. And so will your non-sailing companions.

Getting Here

Where do I fly into?

Fly into Faro (FAO) or Lisbon (LIS) Airports. Faro is just a 15 minute drive from your ISA Clinic location at Vilamoura Sailing. Lisbon is under 2.5 hrs. Airport transfers may be arranged for transportation to Vilamoura Sailing.
