3 Day Starting & Racing Clinic

Learn from the best in this 3 Day Clinic focused exclusively on Starting and Racing.

On the starting side, you'll learn and practice the keys to prioritizing your start strategy and first beat, how to develop a consistent starting routine, how to execute your pre-start maneuvers, how to pull the trigger like a pro, identifying line bias, using a transit, starting in close quarters, avoiding letter scores, measuring drift rate and much, much more.

Racing will be focused on all relevant aspects of strategy and tactics around the course. This training block will prepare sailors to succeed in the 3 day championship regatta following training and beyond.

Each day will consist of a detailed briefing including model behavior videos demonstrating the key skills in focus for that day. The techniques or concepts will be dissected and presented by top coaching to ensure a thorough knowledge transfer of what needs to be accomplished. Next we'll move to a controlled environment in the boat park to practice the drills and steps involved in the processes in focus for the day. Then, we'll move to the water and put the foundational practice and knowledge into action. Sailors will receive realtime feedback from the on water coach to correct and improve their techniques. They'll also be provided with their own feedback loops so they'll learn how to self assess and improve as the coach rotates between sailors. After the on water session, we'll return to shore and debrief the daily video so that sailors may compare their perceived action with the video footage. Coaches will make suggestions for improvement and refer back to the model behavior examples to compare and contrast the sailors progression. Improvement is 100% guaranteed. We look forward to seeing you at this incredible training and regatta opportunity in paradise this winter.

The venue has been selected for the Laser World Championships and Master World Championships twice in the last 8 years and has been regarded as one of the best and most enjoyable Laser sailing locations in the world.

Conditions vary throughout the season and generally get windier as the season goes on, culminating with May, our windiest month. Earlier in the season you can expect 6-12 knots, though oftentimes can and windier in the afternoons, whereas later on you’ll typically see 16-22 knots.

You will not see glassy, dead light conditions or survival conditions, meaning every day is a productive training day!

An ISA team member will completely rig and prepare your boat daily, and after sailing we’ll rinse your boat, de-rig, and put her away. Add the ultimate in convenience to your sailing vacation when you register, and eliminate rigging errors and late launching due to slow rigging.
